The Cumberland helped a former social worker break into the hospitality industry in her purchase of an iconic Scottish hotel on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides.
At the Cumberland, we are proud to offer a wide range of hospitality lending solutions to businesses located throughout the UK, including Scotland and selected islands.
We are delighted to be in partnership with three key organisations dedicated to providing support for hospitality businesses across the UK – these include ASSC, Cumbria Tourism and Scottish Tourism Alliance.
We are proud to have been a partner of ASSC for many years, supporting self-catering accommodation business owners across Scotland.
Since 1978, the ASSC have represented the leading source of knowledge of short-term letting and holiday homes in Scotland, as well as being the only trade body representing the interests of the traditional self-catering sector.
We are proud to have supported Cumbria Tourism since the Strategic Partnership Scheme was first introduced. Since then, we have worked closely to deliver events, industry research, and much more for the Cumbria Tourism members.
Our relationship with Cumbria Tourism is invaluable in helping us understand key areas of focus within the tourism industry in Cumbria, which in turn helps us to understand the needs of our hospitality mortgage customers.
Representing over 2,500 tourism-dependent businesses, Cumbria Tourism work tirelessly to: lobby on key issues, identify business support, training and workforce skills requirements, inform and lead marketing communications and strategy, and much more.
In June 2022, we joined forces with the largest member organisation for tourism businesses in Scotland, the Scottish Tourism Alliance.
The STA connects tourism businesses, destinations, sectoral groups and other organisations to improve collaboration, knowledge and best practice sharing, and giving Scottish tourism a voice to be heard. The organisation is acknowledged and recognised by the Scottish Government as the sector’s Industry Leadership Group (ILG).
Together, the Cumberland and STA are dedicated to supporting a wide range of hospitality businesses in overcoming the challenges presented in the last two years; supporting businesses with the aftereffects of the coronavirus pandemic as well as rising energy costs.
If you run a hospitality business or are thinking of starting one up, our team of knowledgeable and friendly experts would love to speak to you about how we can help support you and your business.
