Cumberland in the running for four national awards for second year

The Cumberland has once again been shortlisted for four national awards, including recognition for offering competitive mortgage rates for its customers.

The building society features in four categories for the 2025 Moneyfacts Awards: Best First-Time Buyer Mortgage; Best Fixed Rate Mortgage Provider; Best Remortgage Provider and Best Building Society Mortgage Provider.

They are the same categories as it was shortlisted for last year, and it will be hoping to do even better than 2024 when it won Best First-Time Buyer Mortgage Provider and highly commended Remortgage Provider.

To be in the running for four awards for a second consecutive year has delighted colleagues at The Cumberland, which has branches across Cumbria, south-west Scotland and into Lancashire and Northumberland.

Matthew North, senior product analyst at The Cumberland, was particularly pleased because the nominations are based on objective evidence.

"It's about being able to keep competitive mortgage rates out there for as long as possible for the benefit of our customers," he said.

"Being a regional building society nominated alongside national banks is a bit of a coup for us.

"It shows we have been able to keep up with everyone and that our hard work has been recognised.

"It's the second year in a row and we are hoping to do even better this time.”

The winners of the Moneyfacts Awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on 26 June.
