Cumberland marks World Kindness Day

Published on

At The Cumberland, kindness is in our nature. This year, we celebrated World Kindness Day by spreading warmth and generosity across Cumbria, Lancashire and Southwest Scotland.

Cumberland colleagues stationed in Carlisle, Annan, Kendal, and Preston handed out hundreds of portions of soup and shortbread to customers, local businesses, and passers-by in the hope that recipients would pay it forward and pass on the kindness to others.

But that’s not all, our support also allowed some of our local community food groups to give away soup and shortbread to their service users free of charge as part of the World Kindness Day celebrations.

The soup and shortbread that we shared with our community were inspired by recipes from our Kinder Cookbook, created as part of our ongoing Kinder Kind of Kitchen initiative, in partnership with FareShare Lancashire and Cumbria, and FareShare Glasgow and the West of Scotland. Through this partnership, we’re helping those facing food poverty in our communities.
