The Cumberland is set to return as the headline sponsor for the Cumbria School Games, an annual event which provides over 1200 children the opportunity to participate in sport and physical activity.

As part of their commitment to making a positive difference to people’s lives, The Cumberland – which has branches across the region and a head office in Carlisle – are sponsoring the Cumbria School Games Multi-Sports event which takes place in June.

Cumbria School Games exist to ensure that physical activity and competition are available to support young peoples’ wider development, including improvements to their physical and mental wellbeing.

The Cumberland, External Communication Manager Kelly Ashbridge, said: “We are proud to be returning as sponsors of the Cumbria School Games.

“As an organisation, we are fully committed to deliver our purpose of Kinder Banking and to support local communities.

“The Cumbria School Games aligns with our aims of supporting projects which develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, capabilities, and attributes, which young people need for mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing now and in the future.

“Their mission of aiming to tackle inactivity in a positive and engaging way also aligns well with our ethos around health and wellbeing.”

Active Cumbria Development Officer and Children and Young People Lead (Education), Kirsty Williamson said: “We are very grateful for this partnership with The Cumberland.

“The Cumbria School Games County festivals are an opportunity for more children and young people to engage in positive activity to support their physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing and achieve their personal best and are made possible by the generous sponsorship from The Cumberland.”

Cumbria School Games are organised by Active Cumbria, the active partnership for the county hosted by Cumberland Council. The events are delivered in partnership with School Games Organisers, schools, clubs, national governing bodies of sport and local partners.
