The building society were recognised at the independent and impartial awards, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, with Moneyfacts judging those shortlisted with an objective view of the industry.
A team from The Cumberland were in London at the ceremony at City Central at the Honourable Artillery Company to pick up the accolade. Among them was Chief Customer Officer Claire Deekes who was delighted that the building society’s focus on Kinder banking had been recognised by judges.
She said: “To have been commended by Moneyfacts as being amongst the best Remortgage providers in the country over the last year is an honour. This kind of impartial recognition means a lot to us as it commemorates the efforts our people and members have seen from us.
“It’s not just an acknowledgement of our Remortgage products, but the service our colleagues give as well. Thank you to everyone who’s worked with us to achieve this.”
The Cumberland was also shortlisted in two other categories: Best Fixed Rate Mortgage Provider and Best Building Society Mortgage Provider.
The news has delighted colleagues at The Cumberland, which has branches across Cumbria, south-west Scotland and into Lancashire and Northumberland.
The commendation comes on the back of a busy period for the building society. Last month The Cumberland announced it was donating £250,000 to support FareShare projects in Cumbria and Lancashire.
And it also revealed its annual results which showed how it continues to support customers and communities through its 'kinder banking' purpose.
