Are you putting a little aside?

Saving means different things to different people but whether it’s a little or a lot – it all adds up to something good.

We know that it’s been tough in recent years for many people to spare even small amounts to put aside for emergencies. Research shows that 48% of UK adults are still saving less than they did before the cost-of-living crisis and that 21% could not meet an unexpected expense of £300 if they suddenly had to*.

That is why, this year, UK Savings Week are stripping saving down to the basics and starting at the beginning with forming good saving habits. Their research shows that once a person begins to save regularly, no matter how little, it becomes easier to frequently put money away, with regular savers depositing money into savings 15.5 times a year on average*.

Building a savings habit is something we could all partake in. Whether it’s putting the loose change from your purse into a jar to pay for a birthday, or opening a savings account to help the kids go to University. With 33% of UK adults not having enough savings to live off for more than one month*, now is as good a time as ever to begin putting a little aside.
